Doddabetta Peak
Doddabetta is the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Mountains at 2,637 metres (8,652 feet). There is a reserved forest area around the peak. It is 9 km from Ooty, on the Ooty-Kotagiri Road in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu, India. It is a popular tourist attraction with road access to the summit. It is the fourth highest peak in South India next to Anamudi, Mannamalai and Meesapulimala. The peaks Hecuba (2375 m), Kattadadu (2418 m) and Kulkudi (2439 m) are the three closely linked summits in the west of the Doddabetta range near to Udagamandalam.
Tea Factory & Museum
Factory producing fresh tea of highest grade. One can see the process of manufacturing of tea. There is also a pictorial museum explaining the history of tea and a chocolate factory. Variety of Tea Museum are also available
Botanical Garden
It is Ooty’s most frequented tourist sport. The Marquis of Tweedale established the garden in 1847.The agricultural Department of Tamil Nadu government now maintains it. During the season(May, June)the garden is the venue of the Annual Flower Show .The garden is spread over 55 acres.
Ooty Lake
It was conceived in 1824 by John Sullivan, the first collector of Ooty, as an irrigation tank. The lake is much frequented by picnickers .Rowboats and paddle boats are available on hire. An amusement park for children and toy train are added attractions.
Rose Garden
Situated in the heart of Ooty town spread over 4 Hectares, this garden has been beautifully laid out in terraces with rose tunnels, pergolas and bowers with rose creepers. This garden has the large collection of Roses in the country. Hybrid Tea Roses, miniature roses, Floribunda,Ramblers,roses of unusual colours like black and green are some of the more than 2000 varieties of the roses that will captivate your senses.
Thread Garden
A wonder garden made using 60 million meters of thread. Entirely handmade displaying 400 shades of thread put to use. Located opposite to Ooty Lake
Wax Museum
Replication of Madame Tussauds the museum displays 20 life-size look-alike wax statues of famous personalities
Pykara Water Falls
Sacred River of the Todas.Longest River in the Nilgiris, originating from the slopes of Mukurthi Peak.

Sims Park,Coonoor
Located in Coonoor and founded by D.J Sim, a secretary to the then Madras government in the mid 19th Century, was started as an amusement park. Over the years it has evolved into a Botanical Garden with well laid out terraces with exotic flowers and shrubs. It contains rare species of trees and shrubs, that cannot be grown in the cooler climate of Ooty.Sim’s Park is the venue of the annual vegetable and fruit show.
Dolphins Nose and the Droog |
Dolphins Nose and the Droog are two excellent viewpoints,10 and 15 km from Coonoor respectively. One can also view the Catherine falls and remaining ruins of an old fort built by Tipu Sultan. Two other favourite are the Law’s Falls near the junction of Coonoor and Katteri rivers and the Railiah dam with a reservoir which supplies water to Coonoor
